Allan Morse Schonberg

Allan Morse Schonberg, 90, passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2019. He was born in Flushing, New York; grew up in Bayside, New York; and attended Purdue University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Al also served two years in the U.S. Army as a Special Agent in the Counter-Intelligence Corps.

After the Army, he headed west, and accepted a position at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he worked for more than ten years. While in Albuquerque, he met Claudette Craig, the love of his life. They married and had three children; Allan, Laura and Eric.

The family moved to Litchfield Park, Arizona, where Al took the position of Purchasing Manager at Unidynamics/Phoenix, an aerospace manufacturer in Goodyear. Al was a charter member and later president of the Estrella Rotary Club, and also served on the board of trustees of the Church at Litchfield Park; the last year as president of the board.

During his twenty-four years at Unidynamics, Al held a variety of management positions, retiring in 1988 as vice president. After retiring, Al and Claudette moved to Prescott. They both worked as realtors for several years. Al had a strong interest in history and was active in the Sharlot Hall Museum, serving as a volunteer and later as president of the board. He also volunteered at the Salvation Army, where he worked in their food distribution program for ten years. Al and Claudette, who passed away in 2018, both loved Prescott and truly enjoyed their golden years together here.

Al is survived by his brother Richard in New York; his son Allan in New Mexico; daughter Laura (Chris) Hamblin in Prescott; son Eric (Diana) in Texas and their two children--Nicole (Jeff) Levin in Texas and Dylan (April) in Oklahoma.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the residents and staff at Granite Gate Senior Living, where Al gained many dear friends and was treated with much compassion, kindness and respect. The family will privately celebrate the lives of Al and Claudette. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Al’s name to the Bradshaw Mountain Wildlife Association at www.bradshawmountainwildlife.com or 18200 S. Wolf Run Trail, Mayer AZ 86333; 928-632-9559.
