Antoinette "Toni" M. Campbell

Toni was born in a lovely bungalow on Chicago’s North side, on 8-16-1926. Her parents, Alfonso and Lilla Vinci came to America from Sicily in approximately 1912. She was the youngest of five children. Later, her parents became naturalized citizens of the U.S. Toni’s Dad worked as an excellent cabinet maker in Chicago and made some of their beautiful furniture. However, he had the desire to open his own business so that he could leave it for his sons when he passed on. So, he opened a grocery and meat market when Toni was just a year old. She actually grew up in that store. When she graduated high school, she began working in the secretarial field, but after work, she helped in the store. It was like a recreation to her as it was a neighborhood business and the customers were all their friends. When one of her brothers took over the business, after her Dad’s early death at age 56, Toni worked at Walgreens’ main offices as a secretary to the Candy and Camera merchandising men. The family, which then consisted of her brother, Mario and her sister, Mary, Toni and her Mother, (the Other Two boys had married), decided to move to Phoenix on the recommendations of her Mother’s doctors. She had rheumatoid arthritis and bedridden. They thought a dry climate would help her. They made the move, and her Mom lived another twelve years in Phoenix, and was not bedridden! Toni continued to work in the secretarial field where she met her husband, H.R. “Buck” Campbell. She was his secretary. They had four children, all of whom were born in Phoenix. They attended church there, and the whole family eventually accepted Christ as Savior. Her youngest son, Larry, soon became a missionary and served ten years in Argentina. Buck and Toni moved to Groom Greek in Prescott where he worked in the aerospace industry as an engineer, and Toni worked at Prescott High School. One of Toni’s greatest passions is dancing. She loves all types of dance and participated in ballroom, square dance, round dance, tap dance, line dancing and just recently completed 30 years of clogging with the Lynx Creek Cloggers. She also enjoyed jazzercise and aerobics and still tries to do some aerobics here at APH, as well as reading and Bible study. Buck went to be with the Lord in January 2013. Toni continued to be active in several different activities here at APH, including being President of the Resident Council. She really loves living here and has enjoyed being part of this community for the past ten years. She is a lovely, gracious friend to all! Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM at Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Home 303 S. Cortez St. Prescott, Arizona 86303.
