Betty was born February 25, 1943 in Sioux Falls, SD. She married Earl Shaff on October 13, 1940 at Hines, MN.
Betty was a long-time Bemidji resident until her husband’s retirement in 1982. They then moved to Prescott Valley, AZ, where they resided until moving to Sun City, AZ in 2008 and then Glendale, AZ in 2010.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bemidji. Betty was a much sought after waitress at the former Pine Night Club in Bemidji and often spoke of the celebrities that she served. After leaving that employment, she became a well-known and beloved daycare provider who always had a waiting list of parents who coveted her loving care. Betty continued to keep in touch with many of these families and their children even after moving to Arizona. Betty also took in several of her nephews and raised them for a number of years.
Betty became a member of the Prescott Valley United Methodist Church and was active in circle and service there until her move to Sun City.
She is survived by her children, Ardelle Shaff Ohman and husband Jim of Austin, MN; Bonnie Shaff Vance and husband Russell of Glendale, AZ; Dennis Shaff and wife Candy Statton Shaff of Sun City, AZ; and Cathy Shaff Gillman and husband Ernest of Cottage Grove, MN. There are 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Burial will be a private family service in Prescott Valley, AZ.
