Buren Glen Holyoak

Buren Holyoak of Wilhoit passed away at New Horizons Care Home on October 10, 2007.  He was born July 24, 1939 to Ervin H. and Maxie Lee Holyoak in Fort Thomas, Arizona. Buren graduated from Bisbee High School in 1957 and later served in the Navy aboard the USS Midway from 1961 until 1966.  He worked for Phelps Dodge Mine in Bisbee and upon his retirement was employed at Granite Mountain Middle School. Buren is survived by his daughters, Kellie and Michelle, son in law Tai, brother Lyle sister in law Boots, grandchildren Tyler, Shon, Jason and Sarah.  He is also survived by four step sisters, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Ervin and Maxie and his step mother Ollie. Buren's hobbies throughout his life included playing the guitar, singing, camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, throwing horseshoes, playing pool, and cooking.  He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play football, as he was an avid sports fan. Buren had many fond memories of his childhood spent in Oak Creek Canyon with his brother Lyle.  His grandparents lived in Oak Creek and ran the fruit orchard there.  Later, he and his brother formed a motorcycle club called "The Gamblers" and the rode many miles with their friends on their Harleys.  He also sang and played his guitar at Bruno's Bar, where many would gather to dance to his music. You were a good dad, grandpa, brother, and friend.  You will forever be in our hearts and we will all miss you terrible.
