Burl Allen Foster

Burl Allen Foster was born February 13, 1932, in Redmond, OR.  All of his siblings have pre-deceased him.  Burl's family moved to northern California when he was 6 months old and he grew up around Marysville/Yuba City area.  Burl was honorably discharged from the Air Force July 4, 1954.

Burl married Mary in 1959 and adopted, Michael Foster, deceased, and Patrick Foster.  They had a daughter, Vicki, and were divorced in 1978.  Burl married Carolyn February 18, 1989, and added two step-children to his family, Lara J. Ferrato and Scot T. Listavich.  After the Air Force, Burl moved to southern California, until he retired December 31, 1992, from BP Marine in San Pedro as their Marine Terminal Manager.  Burl rode trial bikes in 1974, and switched to horses in 1978.  In addition to riding his beloved buckskin, Dummy, he claimed his first quarter horse race horse in 1980, purchased two brood mares, and started breeding his own.  He loved being there at the birth of the foals and going to their races.  Burl and Carolyn moved to Chino Valley, AZ when they retired.  Burl learned to weld and loved doing "tractor projects."  His life was filled with family, friends, dogs, horses, and projects on the ranch, and camping and fishing in the White Mts.  Burl developed Alzheimer's and moved into the Cottage at Highgate where he became a favorite and received great care from truly wonderful people.

Burl died there in the company of his wife, Carolyn, and daughter, Lara, on July 21, 2016.  He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Highgate's Walk to Remember Team for the Alzheimer's Association – Prescott walk to be held October 1, 2016, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
