James Christopher Miner

Our loving father Dr. James (Jim) Christopher Miner, 62, of Prescott Arizona passed away on June 17, 2022. He left behind his wife Terri (Sweetheart), daughters Rachel and Emily, sons Grant and Jared and grandchildren Marnie, Apollo and Liam.

Jim was born on January 17th,1960 in Athens Greece. He was the son of Robin and Mary Miner and older brother to Jerry and John Miner. A military brat he grew up in Greece, Germany and mostly Southern California before finally settling in Prescott Arizona as an adult with his family.

Jim accomplished many things during his life. The most notable are the following:

• He was the inventor of the snark, which preformed the “snark attack”. The snark is a beloved family joke and if you would like to know more ask any family member and they would be happy to demonstrate.
• Having four children Jim was a T-ball, baseball, softball, basketball and tennis coach.
• He was the master of the argument. He used this talent during his higher education graduating in 1990 receiving his Juris Doctor (JD) from Western State College of Law.
• His style was that of a modern-day urban cowboy complete with boots, hat and guitar in hand.
• He was an avid guitar player who could jam for hours. While playing he could completely disconnect from the world around him so much so that when asked a question while in the “the zone” the answer was always “yes.” Later he would have no recollection of what he had agreed to.
• He was the lover of antiques, specifically books, anything made with copper and/or could be hung on a wall. To this day his children believe he holds the record for most decor items hung on a single wall.
• He had an affinity for politics believing till his death that in 2020 there was no way that Arizona went blue.
• He loved to dance. Having no formal training, his moves could be best described as “the Elaine”.

All joking aside, Jim loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was called home to his Lord and Savior at an early age. He will be greatly missed but we take comfort in knowing that God likely just couldn’t wait any longer to get him in heaven to make everyone laugh.

Luke 6:21 “…Blessed are those who weep now, for they will laugh.”

To honor Jim’s memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on July 23rd at Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott at 3:00 pm in the afternoon. We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember his wonderful life. We ask attendees to wear teal in honor of Jim’s favorite color.
