Prescott resident Jenny Spenard died on July 27, 2015. She was also known in Scottsdale, AZ as Jenny Scudder. She married Earl Spenard in Scottsdale, AZ on November 12, 2005.
She worked as a medical scheduler for Mayo Clinic Scottsdale until she took early retirement. She was also a former Vice-President of the Whispering Ridge Homeowners’ Association and a former President of the Fountain Hills Republican Club.
Before she moved to Arizona in 1985, she lived in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1985, she was named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Robert Orr. It is the state’s highest honor. She was active in Republican politics as an elected official and a Ward Chairman. Mayor William Hudnut appointed her to the Department of Transportation Board in 1982. She was honored by her community as Republican of the Year in 1981.
She also served on boards of directors for the Symphony, Boys’ Clubs, American Association of University Women and her church in Indianapolis.
She is predeceased by her husband, Earl J. Spenard Jr. and survived by two sons: Eric Hartman Scudder of Bothell, WA and Karl Edward Scudder of Cave Creek, AZ. There are twin grandchildren: Hayden Dodd Scudder and Sydney May Scudder of Cave Creek, AZ.
She was born October 14, 1938 as the only child of Jewyldeen and Kenneth Hartman of Indianapolis. She earned a B.S. in journalism from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. There, she was elected to Theta Sigma Phi honorary, now known as Women In Communications.
