Johanna Maria Horton

Johanna Maria Horton, 78,  died April 9, 2008 at Prescott Samaritan Village in Prescott, Arizona.  Born November 24, 1929 in Greiz, Thuringen, Germany, she was the only child of Wilheim Schaeffer and Anna Kusser.  Her mother died when she was very small and she was raised by foster parents Hermann and Anna Fischer in Grosshoenau, Germany. Johanna married Windell Dale Horton on September 2, 1953 in Kaiserslautern, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany.  She migrated to the United Sates in January 1962.  She lived in Germany and England, and in Arizona, Arkansas, California and Missouri in the US. Johanna enjoyed feeding and watching birds, as well as taking walks.  She once raised Jersey cows on a farm in Missouri with her son, Robert.  She also raised collies at one time.  She was most proud of her son and grandchildren.  Johanna is survived by her son Robert William Horton of Chino Valley; grandsons Jesse Horton and Justin Horton; granddaughters Tiffany Horton and Destiny Horton, all of Prescott Valley; and ex-husband Windell Horton of Gilmer, Texas. No services are planned at this time.
