John Douglas Dawson

John grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and went to college at Michigan Tech University.  He tried to enlist in the military several times while in college during World War II, but was told to wait till he graduated.  Upon graduation, he joined the Navy and became an officer.  He married Louise in Detroit in 1945 and was married for 62 years.  They have three children.   John worked as an electrical engineer in the electronics industry.  His work took him and his family to several states, including Arizona in 1956.  He was a circuit designer and designed parts that were used in the moon missions and space programs, among other projects.  After leaving Arizona for work, he and Louise retired to Prescott, where they lived for 22 years in the same house on Dogwood Lane.   John loved photography and for a time had a collection of antique cameras.  He was an avid hiker and belonged to the Prescott hiking club.  He was a ham radio operator and enjoyed talking to people around the world.  He loved to tinker with electronics and other things and was very inventive. John is survived by his wife, Louise, two sons and a daughter and  two brothers and a sister.
