John Fredrick Pietz

John F. Pietz was born to Fred and Barbara Pietz on 14 August, 1925, in Tuttle, North Dakota. He was the youngest of 10 children.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Maxine Daily Pietz. They had 5 sons: Marty, James, Jarmin (deceased), Russell (deceased) and Mitchell. John served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater as a B29 crew member. He received the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

John and Maxine were married in December of 1948, in Las Vegas. John graduated from UCLA with a BS in chemistry. He worked first as a teacher in a 1 room school in El Nido, California and later as a chemist for the remainder of his working days. Maxine passed away in July of 2012.

John and Maxine were members of Trinity Lutheran Church and John was a member of VFW Post 10227. John’s ashes will be interred in the Prescott Veteran’s Cemetery next to his wife, Maxine. Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Prescott.
