John Michael Chisholm

John M. Chisholm, 90, passed away in Dewey, Az on November 20, 2021. John was born in Minneapolis, Mn to Ralph and Edith. He grew up in Willmar, MN until leaving to join the Air Force in 1951. After graduating 2nd in his class from A&P school at Sheppard AFB he was stationed at Williams AFB and then at Luke AFB where his two children were born. After many years of active-duty he joined the Air Force Reserves retiring as a Master Sargent.  John was extremely proud of his service to his country and of the time he spent at Luke where he was also a member of the Luke AFB Motorcycle Club.

John’s love of motorcycles led him to start his own very successful Yamaha dealership in 1966. (Yamaha of Phoenix and then Yamaha of Arizona).  His other passions were motorcycle racing, flying where he obtained his commercial license and other multiple ratings, construction of residential and commercial buildings and the satisfaction of a hard day’s work.  He was an avid storyteller and those who knew him or came in contact with him always left with a story or two about delivering newspapers during a snow storm, hunting with his dad, his time at Luke, the trip to Japan Yamaha awarded to him with the love of his life, Hilda, last minute flights with friends to Las Vegas and elsewhere for dinner or his latest building project.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty (Elizabeth) and wife of 44 years, Hilda. He is survived by his children Shirley (Ed) and John (Julie), four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
