Lofton Tex Crow

Lofton ?Tex? Crow, 89, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Brighter Day Adult Care Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona. He was born November 10, 1915 in San Antonio, Texas; the son of Madison and Elizabeth Crow. After high school, Tex joined the Navy and wanted to be a pilot, after his basic training it was discovered he was color blind and was released from active duty with an Honorable discharge. Tex met and married the love of his life Minette Waters on March 23 1940 and shared 57 years together until her death in 1997. He later met and married Elma Bowser who preceded him in death in 2003. Tex served his country during the great war as a test pilot and later became a commercial pilot for TWA and retired. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen, Red Cross Disaster Relief, and the Airline Pilots Association. Tex enjoyed flying which was his passion, golfing, physical training, traveling, drafting, and architectural/structure design. Tex was proud of maintaining perfect flight records after thousands of hours flight and regaining his pilots license after 30 years of medical grounding. Tex is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; Douglas and Merle Crow of Prescott, grandchildren; Sara, Mark, Lara, Ryan, Yumiko, Kimberly and Lynn, and great grandchildren; Trenton, Nathan, Natalie and Huey. A private Celebration of Tex?s life will be held at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott with Pastor Mark Stafford officiating. A private cremation will be held at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley and inurnment will take place in Glendale, California at Forest Lawn Cemetery.Tex?s family suggests contributions be made in his name to the relief efforts from Hurricane Katrina victims, Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2017, Prescott, Arizona  86302.
