Margaret Rose Holland

Margaret Rose Holland Margaret Rose (Wallace) Holland died Saturday, April 10th, 2010.  ?Rosie? was born August 5th, 1927, the first child of Gladys Kathleen (Tate) and John William Wallace, in Henderson, Kentucky.  She was married August 23rd, 1947, to her beloved husband, Ellis Harold Holland.  They raised three children in Indiana before retiring to Prescott Valley, Arizona, where they resided together for twenty-three years.   Rosie was a warm, friendly and compassionate woman who never met a stranger.  She always found something good to say about everyone she met, but she never had a problem ?calling it as she saw it!?   Rosie enjoyed great success as a champion bowler throughout her life, and was looking forward to participating in the upcoming National tournament in El Paso this year, as well as the Nationals next year.  Mother also enjoyed a good game of poker in Vegas or Laughlin ? and was very good at it!   In addition to frequent trips visiting family and friends, Rosie and Ellis travelled the world to exotic destinations like Paris, London, China, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  She was especially fond of their travels in Ireland & Scotland, and believed proudly that she was a descendant of John William Wallace of ?Braveheart? fame.  Every year at St. Patrick?s Day, Rosie bought several pounds of corned beef and cabbage to honor her heritage!   In her early years she worked as a hairdresser and waitress.  She was so successful working with people that she eventually became a trainer in the hospitality field for Marriott.   Every year, for many years, that grey haired lady would march in the Prescott Frontier Days? Parade ? 80+ years young and proud of it!  And, by the way, she also gave her time to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and the Prescott Democratic Headquarters.  Rosie was known as the ?grey-haired sweet woman? seen crawling under fences to put up her favorite candidates? signs!   Our Mother will be forever missed by her surviving family members:  Her husband of 63 years, Ellis; her children, Harold Keith Holland, Carolyn A. Holland and Donna Jean Holland Foley; her grandchildren, Jennifer Alexandria (Jennings) Jochim, David Shane Jennings, Scott Nathan Foley and Eric Brandon Foley; her four great-grandchildren, Shayla Kay Jennings, Hailey Raean Jennings, Marcus Connor Jochim and Miles Scott Jochim; and her surviving brother, Donald Jerry Wallace.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Harris Douglas Wallace.   Remembrances to Rose may be made to:  St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital or Habitat for Humanity.                       We love you, Mother, and wish you eternal peace.
