Marilyn Jean Scott

Marilyn Jean (Montgomery) Scott peacefully entered into eternal life February 24, 2016 at 83 years of age. Marilyn was born May 12, 1932 the Daughter of Lewis and Hyla Montgomery in Brainerd Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her Parents Lewis and Hyla, Brother Earl, and Sister Joyce.           Marilyn survived by her husband of 61 years Gerald (Jerry) Scott who was the love of her life and best friend. The winter of 1954 is when Marilyn and Jerry's love story began. Marilyn and her sister Shirley walked into a bar and happened to meet Jerry. After that night they went to a theater play & dinner and quickly fell in love. Nine months later on November 3, 1955 they were married at the Cathedral in Saint Paul Minnesota. Marilyn was a member of the Catholic Church which was an important part of her life. During their years of marriage Marilyn spent 20 plus years as a dental assistant. She spent her free time camping with her husband and a close group of friends. Marilyn loved to travel and over the years she and her husband visited every National Park in the United States. These were some of her fondest memories. Their last trip was spent at Glacier National Park 4 years ago. Marilyn was never able to have any children of her own but this didn't hold her back from sharing her love for children. Marilyn spent 15 years volunteering at the Milwaukee Children's Hospital and then another 15 years at YRMC where most of her time was spent in the maternity ward. Marilyn retired in 1985 and later had a home built in Prescott Valley AZ where she and Jerry happily spent the rest of their life together.            Marilyn had the most fun outgoing quick witted personality always making you laugh when you least expected it. When asked to describe their life together Jerry simply responded by saying "Fun...we just had so much fun together". What a blessing Marilyn was to anyone whose life she touched, what a fun life she lived, and how beautiful to be remembered the way Jerry will remember their love story.  Marilyn's feisty, spunky, fun, loving, generous and kind personality will live on in the memories of all those who loved her.            Please do not send flowers and no services will be held at Marilyn's request. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Avondale Az.
