Norma Chumley Wigal

Norma was born June 14, 1924, in Steelville, MO, passed into the loving arms of our Lord on July 29, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones.  She was a woman of faith and had unconditional love for her family.  She openly gave of her time to her church and community spanning 52 years in the town of Prescott, AZ, where she made lifelong friends.     After she graduated from Steelville High School, she ventured to St. Louis, MO where she worked in the Records Administration Center, for Emerson Electric, and for Laura Lee Frocks, Inc.  In 1950, she moved to Albuquerque, NM where she worked in the office of personnel for the Atomic Energy Commission at Sandia Base Laboratories.  It was here that she met Donald V. Wigal, whom she married in 1951 at the Methodist Church.  Norma continued her work at AEC, putting Don through college to become a Civil Engineer. They moved many times in their life together for the Santa Fe Railway Company, until they decided to remain in Prescott, AZ, where she supported Don in his private Civil Engineering business. It was in the Prescott community that she served so diligently in her church circle, on the school PTA, the American Heart and Lung Association, Habitat for Humanity, member of Smoki, as well as a docent at the Smoki Museum. She had a love for oil painting, long walks, and bowling.  Norma was a blessing on earth and touched so many hearts along her way.     She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald V. Wigal, son, Galen Wigal, her mother, Myrtle Chumley, her father William Chumley, her sister Dorothy Polk, and her brothers Leland and Cecil Chumley.  She is survived by her daughters Gayla Wigal Robinson (Stan Robinson) of Phoenix, AZ; Melanie Noyes (Kurt Noyes) and grand-daughter, Jessica of San Diego, CA; Tara Wigal-Wertsching (John Wertsching) of Scottsdale, AZ; and extended family in Missouri.
