Opal Doreen Wilkerson

Opal Doreen Wilkerson was called home to heaven May 17, 2006. Opal was born May 22, 1924 in Yankton County, South Dakota to Walter and Julia (ne: Johnson) West. She had one brother, Dennis, who preceeded her in death. Opal graduated form State Normal School with the intent of being a teacher. In 1943, she moved with her family to Prescott, Arizona. There, she met and married Charles William (Bill) Myers in 1951.Bill was in the Air Force, so Opal and Bill lived in many places around the country and the world, including Okinawa, where they were friends with Carl and Marion Wilkerson. They were also stationed in England where their only child, daughter Denise, was born. When their travels were done, Opal and her family moved back to Prescott where she managed Adeline's Carpet and Decor for many years. She was also a faithful member of First Ev. Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was widowed in 1987, and married Carl Wikerson in 1989. Carl and Opal spent many years touring the country be RV.Opal leaves behind many memories of her broad smile and ready laugh as well as the legacy of an unshakable faith in her Savior and Lord. She is survived by her husband Carl, daughter Denise and sisters-in-law Adeline, Gladys, and Evelyn.
