Red Levangie

Red Levangie, lost her brave fight with brest cancer on September 28, 2007 at Hospice Family Care Crossings in Prescott, Arizona. She was born September 2, 1937 in Broken Bow, NE. the daughter of Jack and Leola (Swick) O?Neil. Red was 70 years old, with a free spirit that made her younger than her years.   Red moved to Prescott Valley, in 1985 from Colorado. She loved being outdoors; be it hiking, camping or river rafting and loved traveling and seeing new places. She was a well known local artist and a member of Art Escapes. Red taught art at Yavapai College and was noted primarily for her ceramic sculptures,  pots and humming birds and was a true follower of Native American art, life and history. She also has painted in oils and acrylics mediums. She once displayed four pieces at the Yavapai County Fair. All for pieces won ribbons and one ceramic pot was Best in Show in Fine Arts. Red artistic abilities were very evident in the beautiful garments and one of a kind shirts she created as a seamstress.   Red is survived by her husband Dusty of Prescott Valley; sons; Richard and Randy Szejna and sister. Charlotte Griggs, and two grandchildren: Katelyn and Nicholas, all of Colorado.   Red touched many lives and made a major difference in the world from which she left behind.
