Robyn Gaynelle Fuller

Robyn Gaynelle Fuller passed away in Prescott, Arizona on March the seventh, 2019. Robyn’s life began on February 23, 1957 in Prescott at the old Community Hospital on Marina Street.  Wade and Geraldine Dawson’s bright and beautiful little girl enjoyed her childhood and young adult years with her mother, sister Aleta, and grandmother in the big old Hazeltine house on Mount Vernon Avenue.  It must have been a grand place for a young girl to play, grow up, pose for prom night photographs, and in 1978, exchange wedding vows. After Robyn graduated from Prescott High School she left the comforts of the big house, and with her Husky dog Kyree moved into an isolated cabin in the Mountain Club.  Employed by the Yavapai County Sherriff’s Office, she occasionally served as a radio dispatcher.  It may have been a little challenging at first for this shy, quiet teenager to perform such work. But she always confronted tasks with mature determination, skill, and feisty courage. In 1979 Robyn and her husband moved to Phoenix where she joined the prestigious law firm of Ryley, Carlock, and Ralston as a legal assistant.  Her office was on the 28th floor, the desk situated next to a huge window that offered a panoramic view of the city below.  She was not impressed. Lofty positions, such as those from airplanes, ski lifts, and stepstools were always more than a little spooky to her. Missing their hometown, the couple returned to Prescott in 1982, and work began with the law firm of Toci, Murphy, and Beck.  The years here, she said, working for Mr. Beck, were among the most pleasant of her professional life.  However, once again she occasionally found herself confronting that uneasy view - this time from the window of a King Air that Ted Beck piloted for an important client.  Robyn was sometimes required to assist the wealthy lady and her two Pekinese dogs on certain trips; of course she avoided a window seat. Until 2008 Robyn worked many years for YMCA Camping Services as an office manager for Sky-Y Camp and Chauncy Ranch. She enjoyed the Groom Creek office in the pines, most of her colleagues, all the chipmunks and squirrels, and especially the ever-changing parade of diverse campers. Robyn delighted in the Arizona outdoors, and traveled when she could to its scenic places and historic locations. Recollections of northern California and Oregon were of special significance to her; if she moved from Prescott, she said, it would be to the Willamette Valley…where she would grow Christmas trees. This nature-loving, cat-loving, reader of too many romance novels, quiet and often shy lady will be remembered by many for her kind heart, love of family and friends, and incredible bravery and strength of character: Her father and stepmother Wade and Marlene Dawson live in Tennessee. Nieces Michel and Megan, and nephews Micah and Matthew reside in Kansas, Georgia, and South Carolina. Neice and nephew Elizabeth and Jodon Markona and their children Adrienne and Kai live in Flagstaff, Arizona. Robyn will also be missed by caring neighbors, and many friends whom she loved like family, including Karen and Rich, Roxy, Laura, and George. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ruffner Wakelin.  A memorial gathering is pending.
