Rodney Reno Holmberg

Rodney Reno Holmberg, 79, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2023 at the VA hospital in Prescott Arizona. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne, of 18 years: his five children, Rodney (Rich), Carol, Erin, Robert, and Thomas. Rod is also survived by his seven grandchildren Patrick, Blake, Oscar, Klara, Alaina, Lana and Grace.


Additional survivors include his brother William (Bill) and stepdaughter Sarah and her son Cillian. Rod is predeceased by his parents Vincent and Matha Holmberg and sister JoAnn Myers.


Born on April 9, 1943 in Chicago and, Rod grew up there on the south side. In 1964 he joined the United States Navy and was in the construction division as a Seabee. He served for a year on active duty in Vietnam in 1965. After an honorable discharge he attended college at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and graduated with honors with a degree in Civil Engineering.


Rod worked in construction all his life retiring from Agate, Inc. in Scottsdale as the Supervisor of the Concrete division in 2009. He lived in Jackson, South Carolina for 10 years as a gentleman farmer and was a proud owner of a 1947 Farmall tractor which he took in numerous parades.


A memorial service and celebration of his life was held on April 1, 2023, at Dayspring United Methodist church in Tempe Arizona.
