Ronald H. Hartung, 79,  died August 19, 2005 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born November 2, 1925 in McLaughlin, So. Dakota the son of C. Howard and Gladys E. (Andrews) Hartung.  Ron and Anne moved to Prescott in 1993 from Minot, No. Dakota after Ron?s retirement as a United Methodist Church minister for 37 years. Ron served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II. He was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses and seven air medals. He received his B.S. from South Dakota State, Brookings, his Master?s of Divinity from Garrett Seminary, (Northwestern), and Doctor of Ministry from McCormick Theology (University of Chicago). He served in the Dakotas Conference and was on the Conference Area Programs Staff. Ron was a member of Prescott United Methodist Church, Noon Day Lions, Co-director of Compassionate Friends, and Chaplin of the Santee Retired Naval Association. He was a 50+ year member of Star of the West Lodge No. 33, A.F. & A.M. in Minot, North Dakota. Ron is survived by his wife of 27 years, Anne; daughters: Jody Hartung and Nancy Distler both of Chandler, Mary Kate Wold of New York City; sons; Mark Hartung of Corinth, Texas, Jeff Wold of Mendota Heights, Minn., Peter Wold of Plymouth, Minn. and Leif Wold of Centennial, Colo.; Sister Arlene Comon of Prescott, brother Cecil of Eden Prairie, Minn. and brother-in-law Joe Markham of Carlsbad, Calif. He was preceded in death by his son Rick. A Celebration of Ron?s life will be 2:00 p.m. Friday August 26, 2005 at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley. There will also be a Masonic Service 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home 303 S. Cortez followed by a gathering of friends till 5:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at the United Methodist Church. The family suggests memorials in Ron?s name to the Building Fund at Prescott United Methodist Church, or Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, Development Office, 2121 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL  60201.
