Shirley Louise Kayser

Shirley L. Kayser, age 85, passed on Friday, February 21st, 2020 at her home in Prescott, Arizona.  She was born November 17th, 1934 in Worcester, Massachusetts along with her identical twin sister, Margorie, to Arthur and Ethel Fenno. The two sisters moved to Clearwater, Florida, where Shirley met and married Arthur Kayser in 1954. They raised three children in Boulder and Loveland, Colorado. While there, she worked as a receptionist for Johnson Publishing Company before moving to Prescott, AZ in 1980. While living in Prescott, she worked for the Prescott Unified School District for 8 years. Shirley had a full life and traveled the world, visiting places such as Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Europe. She was an active member of Prescott Church of the Nazarene for over 20 years and loved being a greeter there. Her family and friends remember her as an avid hiker and a practiced ping pong player, often beating her grandchildren. Shirley was active and independent in her home until she had a stroke.  Shirley is survived by her two sons, Steven Kayser, Daniel Kayser, and daughter, Linda Barczi, as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her greatest joys were her family, grandchildren, and helping others in need. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends whose lives she touched. Shirley was the embodiment of love and sunshine. Everyone who met her couldn’t help but fall in love with her kind soul. Private family services will be held, and Shirley’s wishes were to be cremated. The family asks that any memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, or a charity of their choice.  Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Homes and Crematory assisted the family with the arrangements.  Shirley’s family would also like to give a heartfelt “thank you” to the kind caregivers and staff who took care of her for the last months after her stroke. To be cared for lovingly in hospice and eventually taken home for her final days was a gift.
