Stan Lawson

Stanley A. ?Stan? Lawson, 68, died peacefully with his family around him at Ft. Whipple V. A. Medical Center Hospice Unit after a two year battle with cancer. Stan was born August 19, 1936 in Rochelle, Illinois; the son of Samuel A. and Alta Marie (Grimes) Lawson. After completing high school Stan joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. During his time in the service Stan met and later married the love of his life, Angela Vincer on October 28, 1961. Stan worked all his life as a cattleman, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a charter member of the National Cattleman?s Association. He enjoyed his work, traveling and meeting new people, with Stan it was all about the people but Stan loved his family most of all, he was proud of their accomplishments no matter how small it may have seemed to others. As would be expected by those who knew Stan best; he was proud of his work in the cattle industry. Stan is survived by his loving and caring wife Angela of 43 years; also surviving are his children, Janine and Dennis Skinner of Phoenix, AZ, Slade and Tracy Lawson of Tempe, AZ and Steen and his life companion John Allard of Phoenix, AZ. Grandchildren; Jordan, Kelsey, Ashton, Samantha, Alex and Zach. Also Stan?s sisters; Doris and Chuck Meredith of Vinton, IA and Lois Watson of West Branch, IA A memorial Mass celebrating Stan?s life will be held Monday, July 11, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott, Arizona with Rev. Daryl Olds, C.M.F. presiding. A memorial service will also be held at Ashton United Methodist Church in Ashton, Illinois at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005. Burial will follow at the Ashton Cemetery. A private cremation was held at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley, AZ Family suggests contributions to YRMC Hospice, Restricted Fund, P.O. Box 26565, Prescott Valley, AZ  86312 or V.A. Hospice, Ft. Whipple VA Medical Center, Prescott, AZ.
