Suzanne DeVoid Beloved Wife and Mother, Suzanne DeVoid, age 71 of Prescott Valley, AZ lost a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease) on Friday, June 3, 2016. She was born November 24, 1944 in Coral Gables, FL to Joseph and Alma Ellis. She grew up and spent her life in New Jersey before retiring to Arizona in 2003. She was married to Eugene (Gene) DeVoid on October 18, 1969 in Wayne, NJ. and has a daughter Cheray, son-in-law Ron Benner, Jr. and two lovely Grandchildren, Kayla and Liam. Suzanne is also survived by her 95 year old Mother, Alma Ellis from Palm Coast, Fl; brother Wayne Ellis and wife Penni from Fort Mohave, AZ and sister Karen Smith and husband Bryan from Wayne, NJ. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Ellis. Suzanne had a passion for classical music and studied piano and voice for many years and attended Julliard School of Music in New York City. For several years she was a member of the Masterwork Chorus performing Handel's Messiah in such venues as Avery Fisher Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York City as well as locations in NJ. She also performed with the Chorus at America's 1976 Bicentennial in Washington, DC. She loved nature and all animals and always had cats during her married years. She loved to travel, enjoying National Parks in Montana, Arizona, Utah, California and especially the Big Sur as well as the Eastern states. She and Gene had the opportunity to travel on a European River Cruise along the Rhine and Danube from Amsterdam to Budapest which she thoroughly enjoyed and especially Germany and Hungary for which she had ancestral ties. She was thankful for the many wonderful friends she had in the area whom offered her much appreciated passion and support during the difficult recent years. She was also thankful for the exceptional support from the ALS Assn., AZ and Maggie's Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held at Arizona Bradshaw Wakelin Chapel in Prescott Valley at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations should be directed to the ALS Assn., Arizona Chapter, 360 E. Coronado Rd., Ste. 140, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Web address www.alsaz.org.
