Virginia Askerman

Virginia ? Ginny? Askerman, died February 6, 2006 at Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Prescott. She was born  September 4, 1937 in Washington, DC ,the daughter of Harry and Esther (Dahl) Bagby. Virginia was 68 years old.   Virginia and Doug moved to Prescott on October 1, 2003 from Anchorage, Alaska. Ginny was very active in community affairs while living in  Alaska: a member of St. Mary?s Episcopal Church; volunteered in her children?s schools, for food banks, and League of Women Voters . She was  a member of: Prescott United Methodist Church, OSHER Life Long Learning Insitute at Yavapai College and volunteered with the Heritage Nature Center. She enjoyed time with people especially her family, down hill skiing, her morning tea and watching birds. She saw the best in everyone and brought out those good qualities. After 44 years of living in Alaska you could not go to a public place without running into a person who know and liked Ginny. She cared about people and had a sense of justice, yet never said an unkind word about anyone. Every day she lived a chapter out of the content of her character and touched many with it.   Ginny is survived by her husband, Douglas; children, Christopher (Naomi) Flint of Lafayette, CO.; Bryan Flint of Tacoma, WA. and Kevin Flint of Los Angeles, CA.; sister Barbara (Robert) Schnabel of Grasonville, MD and grandchildren; Maya, Stefanie and Evan.   A Celebration of Virginia?s Life will be at 12:00 noon, Friday, February 10, at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley with visitation one hour prior.   Family suggests memorials in Virginia?s name to Yavapai Food Bank, 8400 E. Spouse Dr. Prescott Valley, AZ 86314. Ginny was very concerned that we were always capable of having a good meal and knowing where the next one was coming from, while there were others so much less fortunate that were going hungry  . . . especially the children.
