Alfred James DeJoseph passed away peacefully at the Prescott VA Medical Center on1/7/2026, at the age of 91. Alfred 'Freddy', was born in Amityville, NY, on December 8,1934, to Florence and Fred DeJoseph.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother in-law Chick Caico, and Carol McDowell. He is survived by his two sons, Scott & Donald, sisters Alice Caico, Victoria Gilliam, and Lynell Hart and a large family, with multiple children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. After graduating from Adelphi College in 1954, Fred served honorably in the Navy before starting a family and successful career in Food Service sales. He loved boating, horseshoes and family gatherings.
His big heart was hidden by his rough persona, and he consistently gave to St. Jude's, and Veterans causes. Fred's final months found him seeking, and leaning into his faith in Christ, and I kept encouraging him that there is no better way to 'finish well', than that! Our family would like to thank the awesome, caring folks at Granite Gate, Compassus Hospice, and the wonderful team at the Prescott V.A. for their excellent care of dad these past few months. We also thank longtime friend Joanne Syvertsen, for all the joy and comfort their friendship brought him, and Laura Tapia for spending quality time of faith with him in his last few weeks. A casual Celebration of Fred's life will be at Granite Gate Senior Living (3850 Hwy. 89)Saturday February 7th, 12:00 in the Horizon Room. Light refreshments to follow.
