Allen Fred Wittal passed from this life on March 12th, 2025 at the age of 80. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, three children and two grandchildren. He served dutifully in the US Navy from 1964-1967, an experience with which he strongly identified for the rest of his life and which left him profoundly patriotic. Al, as he preferred to be called, was a man known for his strength, his integrity, and his willingness to fight for people he did not know. The cancer that ultimately took his life was the only thing he ever chose not to fight, and in doing so he was offered a relatively swift and comfortable passing.
Al was known for being easy to talk to and, when he chose to speak, his words carried weight. Ever the hard worker, he traded years of his life in exchange for the success of his children, and in this he spared no expense. Their successes are his successes and it will not be forgotten.
Al's skill set was broad, but he excelled in his understanding of human nature. He was able to discern someone's intentions from across the room. This served him well as a business agent for the Teamsters union and in daily life.
Despite his often stern appearance, those who knew him knew that Al loved to laugh at the absurd, the goofy, and the ironic. He had an easy and welcoming smile for everyone he met.
To TB, Dad, Papa and Al, but never “Mr. Wittal”: you are loved and the world is a little darker without you in it.
