Carnell Jane Hafer, 82, of Prescott, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on January 18, 1944, in Portland, Maine, to Donald Cole and Virginia Babbitt, Carnell lived a life defined by faith, devotion to family, compassion, and adventure.
Following her graduation from Monterey High School, she married David E. Hafer and embarked on the extraordinary journey of military life as the wife of a United States Air Force service member they raised four children while living in various locations around the world before eventually retiring in Sun City West, Arizona.
Later in life, Carnell found true happiness and companionship with Carl Spitz, her beloved life partner. Together they traveled extensively across the country, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, camping, and creating cherished memories with family and friends.
A devoted Christian, Carnell's faith in Jesus Christ guided her throughout her life. She was actively involved in her church and found joy in quilting, traveling, spending time with loved ones, and being near the ocean. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith touched all who knew her.
Carnell is survived by her loving life partner, Carl Spitz; her children, David E. Hafer Jr., Irene Hafer; Paul and Maralin Hafer; Deborah Hale and Greg Lilley; and Mark and Staci Lynn Hafer; her brother, David Stillwagon and his wife Allison; her sister-in-law, Nancy Hafer; her grandchildren, Teresa and Brandon, David and Natalie, Matthew and Ivy, Sammantha and Lance, Garrett, Alexandrea and Patton, Jordan, Joel, Dane, Ava, and Isabelle; and her great-grandchildren, Lillian, Alexis, Nolan, Kennedy, Reagan, David IV, Oliver, Ryane and Penelope.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Hafer Sr.
Carnell's legacy of faith, love, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, 10:30 am at Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Home, Prescott Chapel, located at 303 S. Cortez Street, Prescott, Arizona 86303.
