Charles Lynn Fryxell, “Chuck,” age 77, of Prescott Valley, AZ, passed away on June 13, 2026, surrounded by his family after a brave battle with Parkinson’s/MSA. He was born on April 11, 1949, in Saint Croix Falls, WI, to Ben and Evelyn Fryxell. At the age of 19, he joined the Air Force, training as an airplane mechanic before serving in Vietnam, proudly dedicating four years to his country. He later attended and graduated from Fresno State University and built a dedicated career as an Air Quality Specialist, becoming one of the first specialists involved in creating California Air Quality Boards and Districts. He first worked for Kings County and then the Great Basin Unified District in Bishop, CA. He then moved on to San Bernardino County as the Air Pollution Control Officer in Victorville, CA and ultimately ended his career with Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District, which he created as a separate entity from San Bernardino County.

Chuck was a devoted husband to his wife, Linda, for 28 years and a loving father and “Papa” who cherished spending time with his kids and grandkids. He truly enjoyed being outdoors and fishing, especially in Bishop. He was happiest when he was BBQing with his family, coaching and watching his kids play sports, testing his luck at casinos, and watching football, especially the Minnesota Vikings. He will be remembered for his calm wisdom, positive and happy attitude, endless jokes, and in the end, when his speech was impaired, his huge smile and thumbs up.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five of his siblings. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Kristin Edrington and Mason Beck: his grandchildren, Branden Fetzer, Cameren Fetzer, Makayla Hill, Justin Fetzer, and Jordyn Edrington; his sister Lois Reed; and the staff at the Prescott VA Hospital Community Living Center, who became like family and cared for him dearly during his last year and a half of life.
