Curtis Mason Cowell, a resident of Prescott, Arizona since 1994 died on September 28, 2025, in Prescott. He was born in Texas, in 1930 and raised in the Pacific Northwest.
Curtis attended high school in Astoria, Oregon, lettered in football and track, and served as a reporter for the high school newspaper. He held degrees in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University, and in Business Administration from the University of Washington. He served as an Air Force officer during the Korean War. Curt married his wonderful wife Patricia Bunch in Seattle in 1956.

Curt and Pat retired to Prescott, in 1994. They both loved hiking in the mountains and canyons of the west and often lead local and annual outing hikes for the Pine Lakes Hikers. He and Pat traveled extensively, in Mexico, Europe and Asia, and around the States in their small airplane.
Close family relatives began writing their family histories, and Curt decided to write his as well. He traced the family travels, as his father pursued engineering work during the great depression, from Texas, through California, Montana, Washington, and Oregon. Curt attended twenty-four schools altogether until he left home for college, He wrote further of his own life, through his Air Force service, marriage and career. He included summaries of the lives of our family members.
Curt is survived by his son John, three grandsons Ryan, Ben and Kevin, and a sister Janet Hendrixsen. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, sons David and Mathew and brothers Don and Roger Cowell.
