In Loving Memory of Danny Lee Podborny

April 11, 1950 - July 17, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Danny “ Dan the Man “ Podborny, who peacefully passed away on July 17, 2026, at the age of 76.

Danny was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and spent many years in the fast lane of California’s East Bay. After decades of hard work, he chose to slow down and enjoy life’s simpler pleasures by retiring to Prescott Valley, Arizona. Where he enjoyed the past 10 years of his life surrounded by family and the home he customized with pure awesomeness including his pool table in the living room and creating the ultimate man cave.

Danny worked for The Glass House before dedicating the majority of his career to Southern and Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked as a signalman. He was well known for his strong work ethic, making sure people around him were taken care of, and taking great pride in providing for his family.

Although his sister Cheryl lived out of state, distance never lessened their relationship. They talked on the phone frequently, sharing stories, laughter and the kind of conversations that only siblings who were the best of friends could have.

Those who knew Danny well, remember him as a soft spoken and gentle man with a kind heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He had a quiet presence that made others feel comfortable, and his greatest happiness came from spending time with people he loved.

He genuinely would give you the shirt off his back and even towards the end when he was struggling himself, he would still hold the door open for strangers. Above all else, he was a devoted father to his son, Dustin, who was not only his son but also his best friend. The bond they shared was one of unwavering love, friendship, and mutual respect.

Danny found his greatest joy spending time with his family and his granddaughters, Angie and Izzie were the light of his life, and he adored every moment he spent with them. When his grandson, Jax, was born, it felt as though the final piece of his heart had fallen into place. His three grandchildren brought him happiness that words could never fully express, and they remained his greatest pride until his very last day.

After moving to Prescott Valley, he was fortunate enough to live directly across the street from his sister Vicky and her husband Joe whom he had an incredibly close bond. Vicky and Danny spoke every day and enjoyed everything from running errands, going out to eat, to simply spending time together. Danny and Joe enjoyed playing and competing in pool tournaments for as long back as anyone can remember. They also just loved hanging out at the house cheering on their favorite sports teams.

Danny is survived by his beloved son, Dustin Podborny; his daughter-in-law Samantha; whose jokes and sarcasm always had him laughing and his three cherished grandchildren, Angie, Izzie, and Jax who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Vicky; husband, Joe and Cheryl; husband Jack along with their children, grandchildren and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

Although his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Danny’s greatest accomplishment wasn’t the years he spent working or the collections he built- it was the family he loved so deeply. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
