Elizabeth (Lil) Nadworny passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, on her 70th wedding anniversary, at her home at Las Fuentes in Prescott, Arizona. She was born on April 20, 1936, in Kiltybegs, Longford, Ireland.
Lil is survived by her husband, M Joseph (Joe) Nadworny. Together they built a life centered on family and faith. She is survived by her children: Margaret; Kathie (Brian Wilson, children Tracy, Laura (Yeo), Carol, and Stephen); Mary (Rob Schultz, children Molly, Robert (Dana), Erin (Max, son Calloway)); Elizabeth (Andy Brockman, children Michael, Rachel, and Alana); John (children Dominic and Judy); Brigid’s children Sean, Joe and Ella; and Sheila (Gregg Buswell). She is preceded in death by her children: Mike and Brigid.
Preceding Lil in death are her Duignan siblings: Mel (Lizzie), Maureen (Chris Beaumont), Irene (George Stack), John (Nora), Margaret (Tommy Toher), Charlie (Frances), and Tom (Eileen); in addition to her brother-in-law, John Nad, and some nieces and nephews. She is survived by: her sister, Brigid (Al Pellatt), her sisters-in-law Eileen and Joy; and many nieces and nephews.
Working in London, England, Lil met the love of her life, Joe, and they were married. After honeymooning in Europe, they embarked on a military journey together, stationed in various locations, including Frankfurt, Germany, Pusan, Korea, and numerous stations across the United States. Despite spending two decades in the military, they continued to move, from the southern states of Florida and Georgia to the western states of Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona.
Lil’s artistic talents shone through in her creation of poured ceramics. She had a wide range of other interests as well. Notably, she became the first western woman to earn her black belt in Tae Kwon Do in Korea. She also developed a passion for skiing in the mountains of Utah and delighted in owning horses after Joe’s retirement. She always found joy in exploring the countryside on foot.
Amidst all her adventures, in her later years, Lil’s favorite place was by Joe’s side, where they held hands and cherished their life together. Lil will be remembered for her devotion to her family, faith and the life she built with those she loved.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, June 26, at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Parish in Prescott, Arizona. A casual lunch will follow at the church. Interment will take place on Tuesday, June 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Prescott National Cemetery.
