Frederick “Fred” Holden Sanders Jr.
September 30, 1934 – June 15, 2025
Frederick (Fred) Holden Sanders Jr., 90, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025. Born on September 30, 1934, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was the son of Frederick Holden Sanders, Sr. and Mabel Marguerite Kurz.
He married Cheryl Totten on June 25, 1983. Following his retirement, the couple settled in Ojai, California, and later moved to Prescott Valley in March 2021.
Fred dedicated his life to his family, faith, friends and community. He was a loving husband, father, and stepfather to his three sons and two stepsons. An active member of his church, he served in many capacities including Council President. He also volunteered with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and served for several years as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster. Fred enjoyed spending his free time on the golf course, and hobbies such as puzzles and Word Search books. He was well known for his BBQ skills especially when cooking Tri-tip! Professionally, he built a successful career in the oil and gas refinery industry as a Corporate Salesperson, traveling extensively across the Western United States.
He is survived by his three sons: Rick (Norma) Sanders, Fred Sanders and Mike Sanders: and two stepsons: Andy (Moriya) Fuchs, and Eric (Kathy) Fuchs. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his sister, Linda Mears (Ray), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl, his parents, his two brothers, Irwin and Joe Sanders, and his first wife, Carol Dupuy, mother of his three sons.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 1:00 pm at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1202 Green Lane, Suite A, Prescott, AZ. The service will be available via Live Stream.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association in Fred’s memory.
