Glenn Raymond Welshon was born in Melrose Park, Illinois, on October 4, 1928. He entered eternal life on October 20, 2023. He was the son of the late Raymond and Esther Welshon.
Glenn was married to the love of his life, Mary (Weaver) Welshon for over 70 years and they had four children, Debra, Pamela, Scott (deceased) and Curt. Glenn and Mary were married in Kaiserslautern, Germany in 1951 during the Korean War where Glenn was stationed with the 427th Army Band. They settled in Great Falls, Montana, where Glenn was the Orchestra Director at Great Falls High School. He was one of the six original founding members of the Great Falls Symphony in 1959 which performs to this day. Glenn started playing the violin when he was just eight years old and just recently in July 2023, played a duet at his church - 87 years at his craft.
Glenn and Mary moved to Glendora, California to raise their family and joined Glenkirk Presbyterian Church, where they enjoyed participating in the church choir. Glenn earned a living as a Teacher, Salesman and Mortgage Broker. Glenn and Mary moved to Prescott, AZ. in 1993 where once again Glenn joined the performance community. He played his violin with the Prescott Strings and the Prescott Pops Symphony. He met wonderful musicians who became fast friends. On occasion he was asked to conduct which brought great pleasure. Glenn and Mary joined Trinity Presbyterian Church where Glenn occasionally performed either as a soloist, in a duet or quartet. Glenn also enjoyed working on stained glass projects. Many friends and family have stained glass tables, windows, kaleidoscopes, lamps and jewelry boxes to name a few.
Glenn was preceded in death by his son, Scott Welshon, and his brother, Donald Squires Welshon. He is survived by his wife, Mary Welshon; his three children, Debra (Rick) Phillips, Pamela (John) Duncan, and Curt (Barbara) Welshon; sister, Madelyne Greaves; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 630 Park Ave, Prescott, AZ on November 3, 2023, at 10:30 AM with a luncheon to follow. Glenn will be buried at Prescott National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
