Obituary

James (Jim) Burke Hazelbaker also known as Papaw by his grandkids, passed peacefully at his home in Prescott, AZ on July 1, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Lynn Ray Hazelbaker (Lenard), his father, Forrest, his mother Lorraine, brother Mike and ex-wife Lynnette Sigler.

Jim was born November 7, 1945 in Muncie Indiana to Forrest and Lorraine Hazelbaker. He had two siblings, sister Alicia and brother Mike.

Jim was a devoted son, husband and father to son, Brent (Abigail) and stepchildren, Tony (Danette), Bob (Tami) and Jama (Troy). He was a very loved Papaw to six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Jim also had many extended family members and friends.

Jim graduated from Muncie Central High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business. He was also a member of the National Guard. He enjoyed hunting with his father in his early years and spending time with his family.

He married Lynette Sigler on July 17, 1966, but later divorced.

He married Lynn (Lenard) Ray May 31, 1985. They moved to Arizona in the early 1990’s where Jim worked at Sturm Ruger as a gunsmith which he loved. Jim and Lenard lived in Prescott, AZ for over 35 years. Their home was always filled with many pets, grandkids, family, and friends. Jim was a passionate collector of firearms. He was an avid lover of history, particularly the Old West and its heritage.

He will be remembered for his honesty, work ethic and loyalty to family and friends. He was a hard worker and took pride in everything he set his mind to.

He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
