James Denny

James (Jim) William Denny was born on December 21, 1943 at Prescott Community Hospital on Marina Street in Prescott, AZ. He was named after his uncle who served in the Army Air Forces and was a 1942 World War II MIA casualty in the Philippines.

Jim passed away on November 17, 2025.

Jim graduated from Prescott High School in 1962.

He was a fourth generation Arizonan, who grew up on Fort Rock Ranch and the Cross Shoe Ranch in Seligman and in Skull Valley. He knew the value of hard work, and always rooted for the underdog.

He shared his love of animals with his mother Dixie Denny and his sister Elizabeth Pyle. He had a way with dogs and horses, and worked with Dixie’s thoroughbred racehorse Little Juan.

He loved to dance and was a good athlete, and was a member of the legendary Skull Valley Skunks fast pitch softball team. Jim and his brother Gary Denny toured the United States playing professional novelty softball with the California Cuties.

Jim is survived by son Shawn Denny and daughter-in-law Joanna Denny, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, John Denny, stepmother Leslie Denny, half siblings, Michael, Christine, Marietta and Donata Denny. He is survived by aunts Caroline and Annabelle and many nephews and neices. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Dixie Denny (née Rader) and Clarence Richard Denny, siblings Gary Denny Sr., Richard Denny and Elizabeth Denny Pyle.
