Jean Peter Pfeifer

December 19, 1933 — September 15, 2025

Jean Peter Pfeifer

Jean Peter Pfeifer was born in Oakes, North Dakota on December 19, 1933, the youngest of seven children born to Josephine and Joseph Pfeifer. He passed away September 15, 2025.

The family lived on a farm in North Dakota until they lost everything in the drought of the 30’s in the Midwest. They then moved to Oregon where Jean spent his childhood years.

Working in the fields every summer from the age of six, helped him develop many skills which evolved and that he was able to use throughout his life.

Jean was drafted during the Korean War into the U.S. Army, as a Morse Code radio operator. Upon his honorable discharge from the service, he and his wife Peggy moved to Eugene, Oregon, where he put himself through school, while working as a police officer and raising a young family.

In 1963, Jean and Peggy and their three young children returned to Anchorage where he was hired by the First National Bank of Anchorage. His employment at First National began in the Repo department, and through hard work, he was eventually promoted to President.

Having a strong work ethic enabled him to retire at 52. With early retirement, he enjoyed traveling, playing golf, photography, drafting, sailing, fishing and becoming a private pilot. Since he always enjoyed working with wood, in his spare time, he created beautiful tables, dressers, and cabinets.

As time went on, he and Peggy settled full time in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Jean is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Lisa Pfeifer, son David Pfeifer, son Scott Pfeifer and daughter Anne Frazier as well as eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Jean was happiest when he was around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would light up when he was with them or talking to them on the phone.

While his passing leaves a sadness in the family, they are committed to remembering that he lived a very full life and it is one to be celebrated.

A memorial service for Jean in Anchorage will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
