Juanita joined her parents, Benjamin and Katherine (Salinger) Murphy and her two brothers, Charles and Leo, in eternal rest on July 31, 2026.

Juanita was a very accomplished professional. Her education included a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Oklahoma Baptist University, a Master’s Degree in Nursing Services Administration from Case Western Reserve University, and a PhD in Sociology from Case Western University. She did Post-Graduate work at the University of Southern California.

Her professional work experiences included escalating levels of Nursing and Hospital Management positions, and concluded as Dean and Professor, College of Nursing, Arizona State University, and Visiting Professor, School of Nursing, University of Southern California.

Among her numerous honors and awards was the Jo Eleanor Elliott Outstanding Leadership Award (WIN/WSRN); Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Nursing; and Outstanding Nurse of the Year, Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

Juanita is survived by a sister, Joy, nine nieces and nephews and their children, a large cadre of friends, former students, and former faculty colleagues.

A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Unity Church, Prescott, AZ. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Prescott Area Shelter Services (www.prescottshelters.org).
