Canyon Bible Church of Prescott
Starts at 1:00 pm (Mountain (no DST) time)
Kenneth Roeland Kimsey, Ph.D., went to be the Lord on February 23, 2026 in Prescott, Arizona surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on September 27, 1934, in Borger, Texas, Ken was the son of John Kenneth and Elsie Kimsey.
Kenneth graduated from Glendale High School in 1953 and went on to attend Westmont College before earning his master's degree from Arizona State University. In 1967, he returned to school with the goal of becoming a college professor, ultimately earning his Ph.D. in Colonial U.S. History from the University of Arizona. That degree was instrumental in him becoming the long-time, 18 years director of Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott.
He lived a life marked by curiosity, service, learning, and deep devotion to his family. Throughout his life, Ken worked many jobs, including teaching junior high school, working in a furniture store, and serving as a janitor. His passion for history and education led him to a distinguished career as Director of Sharlot Hall Museum in 1973, where he served faithfully until 1991. He later worked for the United States Forest Service until his retirement around the year 2000.
Kenneth had a lifelong love of learning and adventure. He enjoyed photography, camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, traveling, and visiting museums. He was endlessly curious about the world and found joy in both the outdoors and the pursuit of knowledge.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jacquelyn Kimsey; his brother, Keith (Sharon) Kimsey; his children, Sandra (David) Lutz and Kevin Kimsey; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson.
Kenneth will be remembered for his intellect, steady character, adventurous spirit, generosity and the lasting legacy he leaves through his family and the many lives he impacted over the years.
Kenneth's memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 1 pm at Canyon Bible Church of Prescott, 6215 Willow Creek Rd, Prescott, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of Kenneth's favorite organizations, World Vision.
