Madeline Carol Goodwin

Madeline Carol Stazenski Goodwin born to a Prescott pioneer family on May 22, 1939, passed away July 5, 2025 in Prescott, AZ. Madeline was born to Stanley F Stazenski, Sr and Dora M. Stazenski, the only girl among seven brothers, and grew up on their Mint Valley Ranch in Williamson Valley. As a girl, Madeline would help her mother and father with chores on the ranch. Madeline was a bus student and attended Miller Valley, Lincoln and Washington grade schools. Madeline was proud to be a native Prescottonian. Madeline liked to tell the story of riding her horse to Chino Valley with her best friend Pat to the Chino Valley Truck Stop. There, the two teenagers would tie their horses to the hitching post, go in and drink Cokes and play the juke box. Madeline attended Prescott High School graduating in the class of 1957. It was during her senior year of high school where she met the love of her life and future husband George Goodwin. They were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on August 31, 1957 and would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this August. Their wedding announced the union of two Prescott Pioneer families. Madeline and George had two children, Lisa Phillips (John) born 1960 and Brian Goodwin (Linda) born 1961. They have 9 grandchildren, Christina Carreon (John), Anthony Osvog, Matthew Osvog, George Osvog (deceased) Laura Goodwin Mandy Cathey and Amy Larson (deceased), Ryan (Abbie Popa) Phillips, Andrew Phillips and four great grandchildren, Richie Carreon, Robby Carreon, Bailey Roush, and Ethan Osvog. Madeline is survived by her husband, children and their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sister and brother in law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Madeline was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, rarely missing a Sunday Mass. When Madeline’s children attended Sacred Heart Catholic School she taught physical education and coached the girls’ basketball team. Madeline was the President of the Legion of Mary Society for many years. As she raised her family, Madeline kept the books for George’s and her business. In 1974 Madeline decided to further her education, attending Benham School of Electrology in Texas, Henderson School of Electrology in Winston Salem North Carolina, and Derma Med Institute of California earning her certificate as a certified registered electrologist. She then opened her business, Prescott Electrolysis, which she operated successfully for 25 years until she retired. Madeline and George built their Dream Home in 1973, where she lived until her death. Madeline loved to attend antique auctions with her husband George. After their retirement, Madeline and George enjoyed travel, traveling many miles throughout the United States with their travel trailer. They were also able to tour Germany, Austria, The Netherlands and Switzerland. Madeline and George were members of the Prescott Antique Auto Club for many, many years. Gardening was Madeline’s “happy place”, and canning the fruits of her labor brought her joy. Madeline fought a valiant battle with her illnesses and never complained, leaving us in the afternoon of July 5, 2025. Madeline was predeceased by her Father and Mother, five brothers and two grandchildren.
