Mary Patas passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. She was born in Nea Moudania, Greece, on September 24, 1938, to Chris and Anastasia Rondos. Sadly, her parents passed away when she was only eight, and her aunt and uncle took her in, raising her on their farm until she turned seventeen. Mary’s uncle in Canada sponsored her and arranged for her to come live there. To show her gratitude and help cover the expenses, she worked in his restaurant. Shortly after that, she applied for U.S. Citizenship and relocated to California – where Mary was introduced to Peter Bell. After their courtship, Mary and Peter married and had three wonderful sons. However, over a duration of time, they decided to separate. Mary would go on to meet George Patas, and after a few years of dating, they married.
Mary Patas worked hard in many aspects of her life. She assumed many roles as a seamstress which resulted her to supervise for various companies. This eventually led her to the University of Colorado Medical Center where she worked for many years before happily retiring. Mary was known to be a wonderful cook who enjoyed picnics and family gatherings. She also loved the church and was a part of it all her life. Mary was a warm, caring, and thoughtful person who always put others before herself. She will be sorely missed and will be with us always in spirit.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, George; her sons, Phillip, Chris, and James (Laura); her grandchildren, Theron (Stella) and Dimitri (Vicki); and her great-grandchildren, Nikkos, Elise, Jinora, and Jayce.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, a private funeral will be held. To honor her memory, and in lieu of flowers, please donate to Assumption of the Theotokos Metropolis Cathedral of Denver, Colorado.
