Patricia Ann Lundblad (McGann) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in Prescott, AZ. She was just five months shy of her 100th birthday.
Pat was born and raised in the Sauganash suburb of Chicago, IL. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences from Northwestern University just after the conclusion of World War II. She became a stewardess (flight attendant) with United Airlines in the late 1940’s, flying the DC-3 passenger planes on the Salt Lake City, Utah/Cheyenne, WY/Denver, CO Routes.
She was introduced on a blind date to her future husband, Carl Lundblad, Sr., by one of her fellow stewardesses; they were married on September 7 1949 and moved to Detroit, MI. They relocated to Baltimore, MD in the late 1950’s splitting time between Baltimore and a small community, Sherwood Forest, on the Severn River near Annapolis. Pat and Carl relocated to Arizona in 1997 to be near family and their three young grandchildren. They were happily married for 55 years until Carl’s passing in August, 2004.
Pat was very active while raising their son, Carl, Jr., either volunteering or working for a number of organizations over the decades. Including The Boys’ Home of Baltimore, United Way, The Maryland Science Center, Traveler’s Aid at BWI Airport, and as a docent with Historic Annapolis, leading tours of the colonial era properties in the town. She was on several communities at her son Carl’s school, McDonogh, including chairing the annual Christmas Bazaar event for several years. Pat particularly loved the years spent in Sherwood Forest – serving as one of the first women on the community Board of Directors, actively participating in the Beautification/Gardening Committee and forming lifelong friendships that were cherished to her final days.
She was a passionate reader, most interested in history – particularly of US Presidents, and mystery novels.
Patricia is survived by her son, Carl, her wife Jean, her three grandchildren Dana Lundblad-Harp, CJ Lundblad, and Mattias Lundblad and their mom, Jackie Lundblad. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Carl, in the Veteran’s Cemetery in Crownsville, MD, near Annapolis.
