Patricia Ann Mathews

Patricia Ann Mathews (nee Kotasek)

Patricia Ann Mathews was born and raised in Warren, Ohio in 1943. Her mother died when she young, so she was raised by her beloved sister,Margaret. Pat earned a Bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University and worked in the insurance and banking industries which was very difficult for a single woman at that time. Pat continued her education, receiving a second degree in Community Mental Health from Cleveland State University, and followed with over 700 hours in volunteer help at a local hospital.A mutual friend introduced Pat to her future husband, Roger Mathews.Roger and Pat married in November of 1990 and built a home in Chesterland, Ohio. About four years later, they sold Roger's business and the house and traveled the country, east-to-west and north-to-south,by RV. They visited some of the most spectacular places in the country including Alaska, Bryce Canyon, Mount Rushmore, and Mingus Mountain(where Pat flew hang gliders). Campgrounds loved to hire Pat and Roger because, between the two of them, they could do any job and fix any problem. Eventually they settled in Yuma, Arizona. When they couldn’t tolerate Yuma’s summer heat any longer, they came to Prescott in 2012and bought a summer home. In 2020 Prescott became their only home.Pat was always active in the various communities where she lived, volunteering her time to church, public service, libraries, and various clubs including long time memberships to TOPS and KOPS. Roger and Pat have been completely devoted to each other these past 35 years. Roger and Pat share Roger’s family of three children, their spouses, and grand kids: Paul, Michael, Lisa, Kathy, Pam, Brian, Hannah, Ellie, and Roan. Pat’s family and friends around the country will deeply miss her.The family would like to thank Roger and Pat's many, many friends for their most generous support in these past difficult weeks. From all ofus: Remember Pat with a hug and a smile. Not everyone is given the chance to grow old with a loving partner, so appreciate every single day of your life! Hippies use the backdoor, no exceptions. Peace out!In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Stepping Stones Agencies,Prescott Valley, https://steppingstonesaz.org.
