Reinhold Gerhard Link, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Prescott, Arizona. He was born in Villingen, Germany, to Alfred and Teresia (Ott) Link. In 1958, he immigrated to the United States, settled in Dayton, Ohio, and later became a U.S. citizen. In Dayton he met his wife, Ruth (LaPorte) Link, who survives him, and enjoyed an extraordinary 66-year marriage. Together they had two children, Frederick Link and Christina Link Olson. He is survived by his brothers, Manfred and Helmut and preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth (Link) Shaikh.
Growing up in Germany, he was a gymnast and expert alpine skier. He carried that strength and athletic spirit throughout his life, enjoying track-and-field, long-distance running, cycling, and hiking. But it was skiing that was his greatest passion and he continued skiing into his late eighties.
Reinhold also loved to travel and brought that spirit of adventure to his family, creating lasting memories from trips across the United States and abroad. He liked learning about new places, cultures, and history, and had a genuine curiosity about people. Wherever he went, he would strike up conversations with anyone he could—always eager to hear their story.
A gifted craftsman and entrepreneur, Reinhold apprenticed and worked as an engraver in the tool and die industry and later owned his own company, Link’s Engraving. He was a skilled inventor holding multiple patents, including the Ski Link, which combined his inventiveness and lifelong love of skiing.
Above all, Reinhold will be remembered as a loving husband to Ruth and a cherished dad to Frederick and Christina. As our hearts mourn his passing, we are grateful for his life and how he shaped our family and helped create the wonderful memories we will treasure. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered, always.
