Theresa Marie Diaz

Theresa Marie Diaz passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on November 24, 2025.

Diagnosed with liver cancer in August, she spent her final months exactly as she lived her life: with grace, courage, and an unshakable love for the people around her.

Theresa was born October 20, 1970, to Dora Maldonado Diaz and Louis S. Diaz in Tucson, Arizona. Theresa was the baby of six, the only girl with five older brothers, but anyone who knew that family knew who actually ran the show. After their mother, Dora, passed, Theresa stepped into a role far bigger than her years. She looked after her brothers with a steady hand and an even bigger heart. They may have towered over her, but they all saw her as the true matriarch, the center of gravity who held everyone together.

She would spend the majority of her life calling Prescott home. Theresa was a member of the Prescott High School Class of ’88, maintaining lifelong friendships with many of her classmates as far back as grade school. She was a devoted partner, stepmother, sister, auntie, and friend. Her happiest days were the simple ones: family gathered in the kitchen, laughter echoing through the house, and a pot of beans simmering on the stove. She treasured her family’s traditions and built a home that was a safe place for anyone who walked through the door.

Most recently, Theresa worked as a customer service associate at True Value Hardware in Prescott as well as at Salon Tru Blu, where customers and coworkers quickly became friends. Theresa was the kind of woman who made everyone feel seen. She listened fully, cared deeply, and never hesitated to show up for the people she loved. Even in the hardest moments, she kept her sense of humor and her stubborn streak, reminding everyone that she was still very much in charge.

She is survived by her loving partner, Victor Alvarado; stepsons Gabriel and Nathaniel Alvarado; brothers David Diaz (Nancy) of California, Michael Diaz, Daniel Diaz (Debbie), and Eddie Diaz of Arizona; nieces and nephews Liz Coder and Yolanda Hoaglen of California, Savannah Diaz of Arizona, Chantel Diaz, Gene Diaz, and Toni Lynn Gregory of Oklahoma, Richard Diaz and Michael Diaz Jr. of Arizona, David Segal, Samantha Morales, and Sarah Meilleur of Arizona; and countless great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends she held dear.

She was predeceased by her parents, Dora and Louis Diaz of Arizona, and her brother, Tony Diaz (Darla) of Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11th, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott, with viewing at 10:30AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00AM.

Theresa's Celebration of Life will be held at Starting Point Church 3106 Gateway Blvd from 12:00PM-4:00pm on Thursday December 11th. A potluck luncheon and live microphone for whoever would like to speak in remembrance.
