IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wayne William
Hassing
January 21, 1937 – January 16, 2026
Wayne William Hassing of The Viewpoint East Estates at Prescott Valley, Yavapai County, Arizona, passed away in January 2026 at the age of 88. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 27 years, Lynne Suzanne (Loeffler) Hassing, his parents, William J. Hassing and Francis A. Hassing of Jackson, Minnesota, as well as his brother, Eugene D. Hassing of Gig Harbor, Washington. Wayne was survived by his sister, Kaye Hassing of The Viewpoint West at Prescott Valley until her recent passing on February 16, 2026. He is survived by his four children, Jon Poling of Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, Julie Place of Oakland, Tennessee, Suzy Hassing of Arlington, Texas, and Holly Fitzpatrick of Alma, Arkansas.
Wayne was born on January 21, 1937, in Jackson, Minnesota, as the first of three children on the family farm established in 1901. The farm was his life and where he was happiest. He completed Jackson County Central High School in 1955 and knew tractors like the back of his hand. During his career away from the farm, Wayne held several positions including Parts General Manager for Winnebago Corporation in Edon Prairie, Minnesota, and Outside Sales Manager for John Deere & Company in Moline, Illinois. After marrying Lynne in September 1976, the Hassing’s moved to the Riverside area of California and Wayne established his own company, DEPPCO, doing large equipment sales, services and parts sales. Their home in Sunnymeade produced many fond memories for daughters Suzy and Holly with trips to Disneyland and wonderful Christmases together, going to the rodeo and listening to Glen Campbell’s tunes.
The Hassing’s move to San Diego where Wayne ran DEPPCO for a few years until moving back to the Hassing family farm in Jackson, Minnesota in 1996. After two years in Jackson, the farm was parceled and sold, and Lynne and Wayne moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1998. In 2001, the Hassing’s purchased their new home in Prescott Valley and moved there. His life-long interests included baseball, tinkering with antique radios, politics, his cats and gardening…….and as always, tractors. As recipients of Wayne’s garden bounty can attest, he could grow anything, anywhere!
Active in their Homeowners Association and entertaining often, the Lynne and Wayne Hassing were well known in their community of The Viewpoint East and in Prescott where they had many friends over the years. Wayne’s easy-going, Minnesota farmer approach to life will be missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Miss Kitty’s Cat House, 302 North Alarcon Street, Prescott, Arizona 86301.
