William Harold Tompkins

William Harold “Bill” Tompkins entered eternal rest on October 10, 2026, at his home in Prescott Valley, Arizona. He was 71 years old.

Bill was born on October 23, 1954, in central Illinois and later worked and lived in Chicago. In 1994, he moved to Arizona to pursue an education and became a journeyman gunsmith. He taught gunsmithing at Yavapai College. Later work included designing and building high end rifles for police and military clients.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Tompkins and Patricia Just. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Diane Mazmanian, son Patrick (Alyssa) and Patrick’s mother Elizabeth Tompkins, brother H. Michael (Linda) and sister Rose Burch (Paul). He also has two wonderful granddaughters, Maggie and Emma. Nieces and nephews: Cara, Brian, Sean, Chris, Jennifer, Tammy, Lucinda and Demetria. So many cousins; too many to name from the Clark and Tompkins families.

In addition to his accomplishments in gunsmithing field, Bill was an accomplished cook and would be the first to offer a meal to anyone needing help in the kitchen. His beef stew and split pea soup meals were loved by anyone who needed help with food.

A celebration of life dinner was held on October 14, 2026, for family and friends.
